We would be happy to provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. • Should I utilize my insurance?
5 reasons why people choose to pay Out-of-Packet Reason #1- Did you know, If you choose to utilize your insurance----I’m REQUIRED to give you diagnoses? Based on the diagnose insurance companies can then decide if they will pay for your therapy. In practice I have found that many people who seek therapy don’t require a DSM diagnoses, but support and guidance. Although, I may assign a tentative diagnosis it’s only for understanding symptoms and for treatment planning. When paying out-of-packet individuals have the flexibility to choose duration, frequency, and focus of their therapy session. However, if you choose to utilize your insurance----I’m REQUIRED to give you diagnoses. Reason #2 -Did you know your diagnosis can follow you? The diagnose may be permanently in your medical record. This record can be accessed when you are applying for life insurance, applying for jobs, switching health insurance companies, and for security clearance purposes. Reason #3- Did you know, insurance companies can control your method of treatment? Unfortunately, most people working in the insurance claims department do not have a mental health background and basing your information in their diagnostic formula code. Resulting in insurance companies viewing my claims, determine time intervals, and treatment modalities. Reason #4- Did you know, health insurance providers can choose your therapist for you? If you choose to utilize your insurance many network therapist providers are full-to-capacity and not currently taking new consumers. If you switch your employment and was working with a therapist provider within your network, you may have to FIND a new therapist because she/he is not currently in the new employer network. If you choose to use insurance, you may have limited opportunity to find the BEST therapist whom will feed your spirit, rather you are choosing from a list of providers. Reason #5- Did you know, privacy and confidentiality are not guaranteed? Unfortunately, when submitting insurance claims other people can view your personal information. If you chose pay-out-of-pocket this limits third party being privy to information exchanged in our sessions.
  • What you can expect in our therapeutic session?
We’ll work with a combination of talking and experiential techniques. Typically, we’ll begin by talking about what’s going on for you so that we can understand it and uncover what’s keeping you stuck. Most of the time our session will look like talking and exploring through the hour. There may be times we begin or end with a mindfulness practice in addition to talking, or we may decide to shift into art therapy. Please Note: We can shape the session according to what your needs are.
  • What can I expect to get out of therapy?
Depending on the reasons you are seeking out therapy, what you can expect to get out of therapy differs. Generally, our clients are seeking clarity around a certain issue, relief from stress and anxiety, or need support and counsel about a current life situation. Whatever is going on for you, therapy can make it easier by providing you with a safe space to receive emotional support, learn tools to cope with difficulties, and build self-confidence.
  • What types of therapy do we offer?
We offer individual therapy to adolescents, and adults. Generally we offer therapy for stress management, anxiety, depression, anger management, self-esteem, trauma, issues impacting people of color, ethnic/racial/cultural identity exploration, life transitions (i.e. co-parenting, young professionals, breakups, divorce, career changes, relocations), aging, relationship issues and communication skills.
  • How long does it take to feel better?
This varies from person to person. Some people feel a sense of relief after the first session, while for others it may take multiple sessions to start feeling a shift.
  • How can I know if we are good match?
This is a great question… it’s important to feel comfortable and safe with your therapist. The best way to know if we are a match is by doing a free consultation so we can speak and get a feel for each other. Usually we can determine if we’d be a good match after one conversation.
