JOHN ROBERTSON, LMSW
Are you curious about therapy? Have you been feeling stuck in your head? Are you wondering if Black/Brown folks, particularly men, do therapy? Do you have a particular fear when it comes to treatment? Are you afraid of being judged or misunderstood by your family and peers? Are you afraid you will look weak and have trouble controlling your emotions? Is it possible you're overwhelmed and aren't sure where to begin? These are all common fears people have when seeking therapy, but it is time to end these fears—mental health matters tremendously, especially for Black and Brown people. People are out here are healing through therapy and going after the life they want. Why shouldn't you? It can feel scary to unearth the things you've buried deep, but you deserve to be happy and healthy.
Hello, I am John, a Licensed Master Social Worker located in Maryland. For thirty years, as an educator, mentor, and counselor, I have helped others reach their goals and actualize their full potential.
This is my mission. This is what I do! My approach to therapy is not traditional. I offer real-world solutions based on scientific/evidence-based theories and spiritual awareness to help you grow as a person. Whether you're looking to understand yourself and relationships better, heal from your past, manage stress, discuss your trauma, or seek a weekly support system, I'm here for you.
Let me tell you a story. In the process of relocating an ancient clay statue, the workers dropped it, leaving a huge crack in the exterior. Upon inspection, the workers could see a golden glimmer of light shining through the crack. The clay exterior was chipped away, revealing that the statue was in fact, made of solid gold!
Like the gold statue masked by the clay, our Best Self, who we truly are, is often blocked by the trials and tribulations of our physical, social, and mental experiences. As your therapist, I will partner with you to remove the hurdles that stand in the way of you and your Best Self. You deserve a life that is Golden, and I look forward to working with you to achieve it!!
